This is the time of year when people tend to put their diets aside and forget all about which foods digest well vs. those that do not. People tend to think that on a holiday all rules get put on hold and “you just go for it!”. Quite the contrary. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday season more than any other time, you should remember your food eating rules that have worked for you all year long. Do not make an exception, not even for Thanksgiving.

Do not eat a little bit of everything – All foods don’t mix well once they have entered the stomach, so, be very selective with the foods you put together.

Do not eat from a large plate or platter – It is much better for you to go for a second helping from a smaller plate than to gorge yourself by insisting on seconds after eating from a huge plate.

Always drink some water before you eat . This way you are not over eating from dehydration. It’s always good to sip on water throughout the day.

Avoid foods that cause an adverse reaction in your body such as a headache, diarrhea and bloating.

Desserts are not a must. Instead of dessert, try a cup of Ginger Tea.

You’ll get up from the table feeling slim and trim.

“No Eating After 6pm?” Says Temple Fit Director, William Lane…”We are not ‘dogmatic’ about this, but there is tons of research that supports not eating after 6:00 p.m. If you’re trying to lose weight, one of the first things you need to do is to stop eating after 6:00 pm.” Eating late at night does not give your body time to burn calories consumed before you go to sleep at night. This is true for most people. What you eat and how much you eat along with exercise weigh heavily. Let’s apply each of these strategies and get the benefits of each. Give your body a break. Don’t spend your life feeling stuffed and full with food. Let’s use the “T” word. All together now….. say it with me. “TEMPERANCE”
